STRABAG has signed a contract with Polenergia for the supply of green energy. Renewable sources will power STRABAG’s construction projects in Poland

STRABAG and Polenergia have signed a contract for the supply of green energy from renewable sources. The contract with one of the market leaders in the construction industry was concluded by Polenergia Sprzedaż. The company, which belongs to the largest Polish private energy group, will supply clean energy from renewable sources to construction projects implemented by STRABAG in Poland. The contract with Polenergia also includes energy consulting and support in the field of energy consumption optimization.

Polenergia Sprzedaż is a leading seller of green energy in Poland. Thanks to the signed contract, STRABAG’s construction projects will be powered entirely by clean energy from a wind farm and photovoltaic farms. The aim of the cooperation is also to support the implementation of the STRABAG Sustainable Development Strategy by Polenergia and to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the company’s construction projects.

We are proud to be able to support STRABAG in the implementation of its assumptions related to sustainable development. Polenergia's contract with such a renowned partner is the best proof that the construction industry takes a very responsible approach to the issue of environmental protection and natural resources. An increasing number of large enterprises see a number of benefits resulting from purchasing energy from renewable sources. Energy from wind and photovoltaic farms belonging to Polenergia allows for the implementation of construction projects with a significantly lower carbon footprint. Cooperation with the largest Polish private energy group also means real savings, which increase with the increasing energy efficiency of the entire company.

Ireneusz Sawicki

President of the Management Board of Polenergia Sprzedaż

The energy for STRABAG will come from the Rajgród Wind Farm with a capacity of 25.3 MW, the Sulechów Photovoltaic Farm complex with a total capacity of approx. 30 MW and the Buk Photovoltaic Farm with a capacity of 6.4 MW. All three investments belong to the Polenergia Group.

STRABAG actively uses modern technologies, implements digital solutions on construction sites and uses pro-ecological building materials that have an impact on climate protection. STRABAG takes up the challenge of achieving climate neutrality throughout the entire value chain by 2040. One of the elements of the company’s strategy is to achieve climate neutrality of STRABAG offices and administration by 2025. This applies to all companies belonging to the group in Europe, including Poland.

Sustainable development is the foundation of our strategy. Cooperation with Polenergia in the purchase of green energy from renewable sources will allow us to get closer to the first goal, which is to achieve climate neutrality of our offices. Green energy supplies will allow us to meet 50% of our energy demand.

Peter Dirnberger

STRABAG Sustainable Development Representative in Poland

STRABAG is investing in the development of portable photovoltaic module installations mounted on the roofs of construction containers, which are becoming the norm in investments carried out by the company.

These solutions allow us to meet up to 50% of the energy demand of construction offices in places with difficult access to connections, but also in other locations on construction sites. The second element is the purchase of green energy from wind farms and photovoltaic farms.

Own production of energy generated by photovoltaic panels mounted on the roofs of containers and on the premises of bitumen plants, additional purchase of green energy and expansion of the car fleet with electric vehicles will reduce CO2 emissions in the scope of STRABAG’s operational activities in Poland.
