Solar power of Polenergia grows by 242 percent

Polenergia has launched two portfolios of photovoltaic projects, Sulechów II and Sulechów II, with a capacity of 22 MWp. Hence, the total capacity of green assets in exploitation grows by over 7 percent, to 318 MW. The Group is strengthening its position among leaders actively supporting transformation of the Polish energy market via development of Renewable Energy Sources.

The Sulechów II and Sulechów III complexes of photovoltaic farms are the second and third solar investment of Polenergia. They comprise 22 photovoltaic installations, each with a capacity up to 1 MW. The facilities are located in Kruszyna in the Sulechów Commune in Lubuskie Province. In the area of 45 hectares, over 40,000 photovoltaic modules have been installed. The capacity of a single two-sided solar panel is 540 Wp. The construction lasted from June 2021 to January 2022. The investments received an occupancy permit in April 2022.

The contractor of construction work was P&Q. The role of the Contract Engineer during performance of the investment was performed by Bilfinger Tebodin Polska. The domestic share of manufacturers in the supply chains exceeded 50 percent. During the contract performance: 725 tons of steel for the bearing structure, 171,000 screws and clamp caps, 230 km of direct current cables, 44 km of medium-voltage and low-voltage cables and 88 photovoltaic inverters were used.

Polenergia’s strategic objective is to actively participate in energy transformation - thanks to this, we can develop the Group at a prospective market, increase our generating capacity in the area of clean Renewable Energy Sources and deliver it to an ever-growing group of business and individual clients. As one of the leaders at the market, we believe that diversification of energy sources - both technological and geographic - is the basis of energy security, so important nowadays. Hence, we are building photovoltaic projects at an industrial scale as the one in Sulechów, but also at a much smaller scale adjusted to the needs of the dispersed, prosumer energy sector. More importantly, we are also developing onshore and offshore wind farms, hydrogen technologies and electro-mobility. The energy of the future will look completely different than today, and such change requires a number of necessary modern investments and actions of all engaged market participants.

Piotr Maciołek

Member of the Management Board of the Polenergia Group

The Sulechów Commune has become a photovoltaic basin of Polenergia. This is where the company launched its first project of photovoltaic farms Sulechów I with a capacity of 8 MWp. Now, two more investments were completed in the area of the commune and in effect, the total capacity of the complex of photovoltaic farms in Sulechów grew up to almost 30 MWp. Performance of Polenergia’s solar projects in this place would not have been possible without excellent cooperation with the local government.

I am very happy that the Sulechów Commune has become a location that encourages the development of renewable solar energy. The rapid pace of project performance should be stressed - it was just a year ago that we took part in the opening of two stages of construction of photovoltaic farms in our commune and today we are already celebrating the end of these investments. Obviously, financial benefits deriving from taxes which will translate directly to the improvement of the comfort of life of the Sulechów residents are very important in this enterprise. I would also like to stress very good cooperation and communication between Polenergia and the local government. I am convinced that good relations translate to the desire for joint actions which is also testified by Polenergia's engagement in environmental and social assistance in the area of the commune, and I would like to the thank the Management Board and the Company’s employees very much for it.

The Photovoltaic Farm Complexes in Sulechów received 15-year guaranteed support as part of the auction system. The planned annual production of green and clean energy is almost 32 GWh, which corresponds to the annual demand for electric energy of 16,000 households. Thanks to the performance of the projects, preventing emission of pollution on the level reaching even up to 27,000 tons of CO2, 23 tons of SO2, 27 tons of NOX, 8 tons of CO and almost 2 tons of dust will be possible. The time of operation of the installation is estimated at over 25 years, which corresponds to cumulated production on the level of approx. 860 GWh.

In the third quarter of the year, Polenergia is planning to launch another project of photovoltaic farms, Buk. The investment is located in the area of the Buk Commune in the Wielkopolskie Province. It comprises 7 solar installations with a total capacity of almost 7 MWp. Two photovoltaic projects have been scheduled for construction which received support as part of the RES auction carried out in December 2021: Świebodzin I photovoltaic farm and Strzelino photovoltaic farm with a total capacity of 56 MW. The Świebodzin II photovoltaic farm project is also ready for construction with a capacity of 10.5 MWp.
