Polenergia will power the PURO hotel...

Polenergia will power the PURO hotel chain with clean energy for 10 years. „This is the decade of green Energy”

Polenergia will power the PURO hotel chain with green energy for the next 10 years. This is the result of a long-term cPPA agreement, which will ensure continuous supplies of energy from Polenergia's renewable sources to all PURO facilities in Poland. „This is the decade of green energy. We are proud that popular hotels, used by hundreds of thousands of people annually, will be powered by clean energy from our wind and photovoltaic farms,” says Marek Musiał, President of the Management Board of Polenergia Obrót. Green energy supplies to PURO hotels will start on January 1, 2024.

PURO is a chain of hotels located in the centers of the largest cities in Poland. The company has facilities located in Warsaw, Gdańsk, Kraków, Wrocław, Łódź and Poznań. Last year, nearly half a million guests visited PURO hotels. The brand originating from Poland is undergoing dynamic international development. New hotels are under construction in Budapest and Prague, and there are plans to continue European expansion.

Polenergia signed a long-term cPPA contract with PURO. This is an agreement concluded by the energy recipient directly with its producer. This means that for the next 10 years, all PURO hotels in Poland will be powered by renewable energy sources belonging to the Polenergia Group.

This is the decade of green energy. We are proud that popular hotels, used by hundreds of thousands of people annually, will be powered by clean energy from our wind and photovoltaic farms. Polenergia has a unique offer on the Polish energy market. During the ongoing and complex energy transition, our company is already offering customers the opportunity to purchase fully clean renewable energy. This means that decarbonization and preparation for reducing carbon footprints are within reach for many companies. The PURO brand decided to take advantage of this opportunity.

Marek Musiał

President of the Management Board of Polenergia Obrót

The sales contract is based on the cPPA formula with the PPA+ service. Green energy for PURO facilities will be produced, among others, by: on the Grabowo Wind Farm with a capacity of 44 MW and the Strzelino Photovoltaic Farm with a capacity of 45 MWp, which belong to Polenergia.

In this type of contracts, the selection of various sources available in the portfolio of a diversified producer, such as the Polenergia Group, allows for the profile of green energy produced to be as close as possible to the profile of its consumption by the end customer. This, in turn, enables further cost reduction for the customer.

As part of its development strategy, PURO is increasingly involved in introducing responsible practices – with particular emphasis on clean energy obtained directly from renewable energy sources. As it grows and expands abroad, PURO emphasizes the importance of sustainability.

In PURO we consistently pave the way in many areas of our business. Now, thanks to this important business decision, we not only strengthen our position as a leader, but also want to inspire the industry to make positive changes in a key area of activity - the use of clean energy. We boldly take innovative actions, and each of our subsequent strategic steps makes us a stronger brand. We want to set new standards and meet the expectations of our guests.

Rune Askevold

President of the Managment Board of PURO Hotels

Polenergia will cover 100% of the electricity demand of PURO hotels. cPPA contract with the PPA+ service with PURO Hotels Sp. z o. o. was signed by Polenergia Obrót S.A. The start of energy supplies is scheduled for no later than January 1, 2024.

Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (cPPA) are contracts concluded by the energy recipient directly with its producer. In the case of Polenergia, this means a producer who has a wide portfolio of Renewable Energy Sources. During this time, energy is sold at a previously agreed price. A PPA contract concluded with a producer who owns renewable energy sources allows the recipient to become independent from fluctuations in market energy prices.

PPA+ is an agreement co-existing with the PPA agreement, under which Polenergia ensures balanced full physical deliveries to the customer in order to fully meet his consumption needs. The service involves comprehensive replenishment of deficiencies and compensation of surpluses that may occur when supplying the volume of renewable energy to the customer.
