In 2012 the Piekło Wind Farm project went through the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure conducted by the competent authority, i.e. the Mayor of Międzychód. During the EIA procedure, the State Sanitary Inspector and the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOS) were consulted as required by the environmental protection law. The procedure also allowed for stakeholder participation. The procedure ended with issuing a decision on environmental conditions allowing for the construction of up to 14 wind turbines and the necessary infrastructure. The project was also granted a building permit for 6 wind turbines with the associated infrastructure. However, ultimately the company decided to build 6 wind turbines. The capacity of the individual Vestas V110 wind turbines will be 2.2 MW.
The total installed capacity of the wind is 13.2 MW.
On 26 November 2020, pursuant to the auction notice of 1 October 2020, an auction for the sale of electricity from renewable energy sources entitled “AZ/7/2020” was held.
