Equinor and Polenergia opened the first offshore wind energy exhibition in Poland

"Baltic Sea. Sea of Green Energy" is the first exhibition in Poland dedicated to offshore wind energy. The exhibition was created at the Maritime Culture Center of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. Behind the realization of the new tourist attraction located in the very center of the Old Town are Equinor and Polenergia - energy companies that are jointly developing three wind farms in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of up to 3,000 MW.

The exhibition “Baltic Sea. Sea of Green Energy” shows the process of wind formation, the history of its use and the huge potential of the Baltic Sea for offshore wind energy development today. At the heart of the exhibition is an interactive mock-up that brings closer the successive stages of offshore wind farm construction.

Offshore wind farms will change the face of the Polish energy sector and the Polish economy. Their rapid development will be one of the most important topics of public debate in the coming years. I am extremely pleased that thanks to our cooperation with the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk we can bring this topic closer to the general public. The exhibition "Baltic. Sea of Green Energy" is not only a story about the modern wind projects we are implementing in the Baltic Sea, but also the story of Poland's energy transition, in which the main roles will soon be played by wind, water and the latest technologies.

During the tour of the exhibition, visitors can see, among other things, photos and films showing the development of offshore wind energy. The exhibition also presents a number of unique exhibits donated to the organizers by key suppliers of components for offshore wind farms Bałtyk. These include fragments of offshore cables, ship models and a transformer station fan.

The Bałtyk projects, being developed by Equinor and Polenergia, can supply green energy to more than 4 million Polish households. The most advanced projects, Bałtyk 2 and 3, with a total capacity of 1440 MW, are at the stage of obtaining construction permits. Later this year, preparatory work on the onshore part and the start of construction of a service base in Łeba are planned.

Educational activities are highly valuable and important to us. Equinor has a rich and long experience in developing offshore wind farms, so we feel obliged to share the knowledge we have gained and inspire the younger generation to further develop this area. Offshore wind energy is a new sector that undoubtedly has strategic importance for the economic progress and energy security of Poland. Thanks to this exhibition, we can show an important part of our everyday life, draw attention to the use of natural resources, how they create progress for society as well as the complexity of processes and technologies, and highlight the positive effects of offshore energy development, which are the key to to achieve a green energy future.

The exhibition at the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk is another element of the information and education activities conducted by Equinor and Polenergia. The companies organize periodic meetings with local residents and are actively involved in local communities.

A special educational zone will play a similar role in the museum space, with workshops and lectures conducted by educators from the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk and representatives of Equinor and Polenergia.

We cordially invite everyone to visit this exhibition. We believe that it will be of great interest to visitors. Among the substantive content, there are numerous interesting facts and interactive elements adapted to each age group. In the closing part of the exhibition, we have prepared for all visitors a quiz summarizing the acquired knowledge and an opportunity to make an artwork, which can be left as a souvenir in the museum's collection.

The exhibition is located on the third floor of the Maritime Culture Center of the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk, 21/25 Tokarska St. Its tours are available is available during the museum’s opening hours, i.e. from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Projekt 007 is responsible for the exhibition’s design and construction.

It was with great pleasure that our company became involved in this project. Although the topic seems difficult, we tried to arrange the space and provide technical information in such a way that it was accessible to any audience. Our experts felt extremely inspired by the topic of offshore wind farms, we will follow the further development of the Baltic projects and keep our fingers crossed for the success of these investments.
