Polenergia Completes Its Largest Wind Farm!

Polenergia Completes Its Largest Wind Farm!

Polenergia launched the Dębsk Wind Farm with a capacity of 121 MW. This is the largest onshore RES investment in the company’s history and at the same time one of the largest wind farms in Poland. The total portfolio of Polenergia’s green investments has grown by 35% to 472 MW.

  • 2 MW capacity of single turbine;
  • 31 months of operation;
  • 55 Vestas V110 turbines;
  • 183 thousand potentially supplied households during a year;
  • 318,000 tons less CO2 in the atmosphere;
  • 366 GWh estimated annual production of green energy;

The Dębsk Wind Farm is the eleventh on-shore wind farm of Polenergia. It is located on the Northern Masovian Plain. It comprises 55 V110-2.2 turbines with a total capacity of 121 MW which makes it one of the largest wind farms in Poland. Fifteen wind turbines were built in the area of the Kluczbork-Osada county, and the remaining forty in the area of the Żuromin county. The turbines’ gondolas are assembled at the height of 120 m, while the diameter of the blade is 110 m. The total height is 175 m.

The estimated annual production of the Dębsk Wind Farm will approximate 366 GWh, which correspondents to demand for electricity of 183,000 households. This means that all residents of Ciechanów, Mława, Płońsk, Pułtusk and Żuromin counties may be fully supplied with green wind energy. When working at full capacity, within just one minute the farm can produce electricity that is needed by one household within a year. One turbine, working at full capacity, within a minute can produce electricity for an electric vehicle to ride for almost 200 km.

Commencement of construction of the largest investment in the history of Polenergia took place in mid 2000, merely eight weeks after announcement of the Group's new strategy. Difficult times related to the pandemic, adverse macro-economic environment have not affected performance of this project even for a moment. Readiness of banks to finance the investment confirms Polenergia’s high position as a good and reliable business partner. We are proud to add the Dębsk Wind Farm to active projects and we are greatly increasing our green generation capacity, which makes Polenergia leader of New Energy. We understand it as a system of innovative solutions the foundation of which are technologically advanced zero emission energy sources and innovative products created in line with the Energia 2051 standard developed by us. This is a great day for us and the success of the entire team of Polenergia that shows its consistency and determination in action by every commissioned investment.

Michał Michalski, Ph.D.

President of the Management Board of Polenergia

Completion of the Dębsk Wind Farm is a significant step in Polish green transformation. Within a year, it will be possible to avoid emission of pollution on the level reaching even 318,000 tons of CO2, 299 tons of SO2, 302 tons of NOx, 106 tons of CO and 18 tons of dust. The investment will also reduce the use of hard coal by 168,000 tons annually, which significantly changes the national energy market and develops zero emission economy fully reliant on the Renewable Energy Sources.

Energy generated by the wind turbines of the Dębsk Wind Farm is sent via underground cable lines to the Transformer Station. After voltage transformation to 110 kV, the energy is sent without an intermediate station directly to the Kruszcze Transformer Station near Płock, via a 62-km (longest in Europe) underground high voltage alternating current power cable.

The supplier of turbines and the entity providing technical maintenance services for a period of 30 years from the moment of start-up of the Dębsk Wind Farm is Vestas. The contractor for comprehensive construction work related to the foundations for wind turbines, adjustment of access roads for oversize transport, modernisation of existing roads, construction of maintenance roads and assembly platforms was a consortium consisting of ONDE and ERBUD. Assembly, electric power work and the necessary construction work for the 30/110 kV electrical station, along with the medium and high voltage cable network and optical fibre network was performed by a consortium consisting of Electrum Concreo and JAREX. The construction was monitored by specialists from BIOEKSPERT responsible for nature supervision. The Contract Engineer service during the investment was provided by J.S. Hamilton Consulting.

In 2019, the Dębsk Wind Farm received guaranteed support in the form of a contract of differences for a part of production as part of the auction system, which will additionally allow for optimisation of profitability.
