All submitted Polenergia projects won the RES auctions

Polenergia S.A. (“Polenergia”), the largest Polish private energy group, won the auctions for new wind and photovoltaic farms. The Piekło Wind Farm with a capacity of 13 MW and three projects as part of which construction of 29 PV installations with a total capacity of 29 MW is assumed will receive 15-year support. Thus, Polenergia is consistently implementing development plans described in the Group's strategy, successively increasing the installed capacity in the segment of onshore wind farms and photovoltaics.

The Piekło Wind Farm with a capacity of 13 MW which received support as part of the auction system will be located in the area of Międzychód and Kwilcz communes. It will comprise 6 turbines as a maximum, whereas the annual production of electricity will amount to approx. 40 GWh. This corresponds to the annual demand for electricity of 20,000 households. Performance of the project will allow for avoiding emission of pollution on the level amounting to 35,000 tons of CO2, 30 tons of SO2, 35 tons of NOX, 10 tons of CO and 2.5 tons of suspended particulates. Commencement of construction work was planned for the fourth quarter of the next year and its completion is forecast in the second quarter of 2023.

The Sulechów commune is becoming the photovoltaic hub of Polenergia. Last year, the company launched its first photovoltaic farm, Sulechów I, with a capacity of 8 MWp there. Now, two more projects, namely Sulechów II and Sulechów III, will be constructed in the area of the commune, comprising 22 PV installations with a total capacity of 22 MWp. The third photovoltaic project prepared for implementation is the Buk I photovoltaic farm located in the area of the Buk commune. It will comprise seven PV installations with a capacity of 7 MWp.

The total capacity of the new photovoltaic farms of Polenergia which won the December auction amounts to 29 MWp. The planned annual production is almost 32 GWh, which corresponds to the demand for electricity of 16,000 families. Performance of the projects will allow for avoiding emission of pollution on the level amounting to 35,000 tons of CO2, 24 tons of SO2, 28 tons of NOX, 8 tons of CO and almost 2 tons of suspended particulates. The time of operation is estimated for 30 years which corresponds to accumulated production on the level of approx. 880 GWh. The performance schedule of the Sulechów II project foresees its commissioning in the fourth quarter of 2021. The Sulechów III and Buk I projects will be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

Polenergia is consistently building a portfolio based on safe and technologically advanced wind and photovoltaic projects. We are strongly increasing business engagement in the segment of generation of electricity from RES which is dynamically developing in Poland, contributing to protection of climate and construction of low-emission economy. We believe that the photovoltaic industry is a natural supplementation for wind energy thanks to the complementary profile of production. Therefore, apart from the positive impact on the building of the Group’s values, photovoltaic projects allow for efficient balancing of a commercial position of the portfolio held by the company. We are continuing activities striving to meet the goals presented in the strategy announced by the Group.

Michał Michalski

President of the Management Board of Polenergia

At the present moment, Polenergia is in the course of building three wind farm projects which won the last-year’s RES auction. The largest among them and, at the same time, one of the largest in Poland is the Dębsk Wind Farm with a capacity of 121 MW, the completion of which is scheduled in mid 2022. In the first half of the next year, construction of the Szymankowo Wind Farm with a capacity of 38 MW will be completed, whereas the Kostomłoty Wind Farm with a capacity of 27 MW will be commissioned in the third quarter of 2022. Reduced costs of energy generated from renewable sources and positive attitude of the banks to financing zero-emission energy projects are of key significance for the performance of all new projects of the Group. It is also important that Polenergia is making use of the best available technological solutions which contribute to the significant reduction of costs of generation.
